In the opening league matchday, the youth team defeated Maccabi Herzliya 1-0, courtesy of a decisive strike by Avi Dagim.
The Youth Premier League kicked off this Saturday, with our youth team heading out for an away fixture in Herzliya. The squad, which came within a whisker of clinching the championship last season, is built this year from a core of second-year youth players, new signings, and talents promoted from the Under-17s (Noar A), led by head coach Asaf Gerenstein.
Following a goalless first half, the breakthrough arrived in the 48th minute through Avi Dagim. The new signing from Hapoel Jerusalem latched onto a well-placed through ball inside the box from newly appointed team captain Itamar Huseid, controlled with his left foot, and slotted it past the keeper into the corner. The lead held until the final whistle, securing Hapoel's first three points of the season.
Next Saturday (August 22), Hapoel will host Hapoel Kfar Saba for Matchday 2.
