Our women's team hosted Bnot Netanya this evening (Tuesday) for the 16th round of the Women's National League (Liga Leumit), in a high-stakes showdown between the two league leaders.
It took just two minutes for Yetunde Adeboyejo to give us the lead, connecting with a cross from Eden Avital, who had made a brilliant run down the flank. For the Nigerian striker, who joined the squad just a month ago, this marked her third league goal and fifth across all competitions.
Fourteen minutes later, the provider turned scorer: Avital beautifully chipped the ball over the opposing goalkeeper to double the lead. Five minutes before the break, Gil Havazelet replicated the move, also chipping the keeper to score the third goal of the match.
Hapoel didn't let up. Six minutes into the second half, Hodaya Biton fired from distance, adding her name to the scoresheet with her sixth goal in the last four games. Deep into stoppage time, Noy Bengal capped off the evening with the fifth goal-her second for the club, following her debut goal in the previous match. A resounding 5-0 Red victory at the final whistle.
Ofer Ben Zeev's squad has now climbed to the top of the table with 40 points out of a possible 48, sitting 2 points clear of second-place Bnot Netanya and 6 points ahead of third-place Hapoel Be'er Sheva. Next week, they will face another Netanya-based side, Maccabi Netanya, in the 17th round.
