The Reds recorded their first win in the pre-season cup tournament with a 2-0 victory over Kiryat Gat. A brace for Eden Avital
The women’s senior team traveled this evening (Tuesday) to the new stadium in Rehovot, visiting S.C. Kiryat Gat for Matchday 2 of the Athena Cup, the pre-season tournament preceding the league campaign.
In the 8th minute, new signing Maria Almasri was brought down inside the penalty area. Eden Avital stepped up to the spot and calmly converted into the bottom-right corner. In the 32nd minute, Hodaya Biton set up Avital, who completed her brace and sealed the final scoreline.
Team player Hen Elhadad concluded: "We had a tough match against a worthy and quality opponent. We showed character, worked hard, and gave it our all. We played our brand of football – and we hope to play like this throughout the entire season."
In the third and final group stage fixture, Ofer Ben Zeev's squad will host Hapoel Ra'anana on Sunday (30.8, 19:00) at the Bat Yam Stadium.
