Three important points for the women’s team, as Eden Avital decided the match from the penalty spot
The senior women’s team hosted Maccabi Netanya in Matchday 8 of the National Women’s League. As a reminder, last week the team’s cup match, which was scheduled to be hosted against Hapoel Hadera, was postponed to January due to weather conditions. The previous league match ended in a goalless draw against Bnot Netanya.
After 90 evenly contested minutes and deep into stoppage time, captain Anna Cheminava was fouled inside the penalty area, and Hapoel were awarded a penalty. Eden Avital stepped up to take the spot kick from 11 meters, calmly converted, and sealed the result with her 11th league goal of the season.
Ofir Ben Zeev’s players sit third in the league table with 18 points from a possible 24, level on points with second-placed Hapoel Be’er Sheva. Next Tuesday, the team will travel to face Maccabi Rehovot to conclude the first round of league fixtures.
