Senior Women: 1:1 home draw vs. Hapoel Be’er Sheva

The women’s team opened the second round with a share of the points against Hapoel Be’er Sheva. Eden Avital equalized from the penalty spot

The senior women hosted Hapoel Be’er Sheva in Matchday 10 of the National Women’s League, the round that opened the second half of the season. As a reminder, the league features ten teams that play each other twice, followed by the playoffs.

The first half ended scoreless, and early in the second half the visitors took the lead. In the 72nd minute, center-back Theyna Marins headed a high ball that struck a Be’er Sheva player’s hand inside the box, and Hapoel were awarded a penalty. Eden Avital stepped up and converted to make it 1:1 with her 13th goal of the season. That proved to be the final score, as Hapoel earned an important point going forward.

Ofer Ben Ze’ev’s side dropped to third place in the league table after losing second place, the promotion spot, to Bnot Tamra. They have 22 points from a possible 30, and in the next round will travel for an away match against Maccabi Be’er Sheva.

Hapoel lineup: Agam Haviv, Shoval Kedoshim, Shai Perl, Thayna Marins, Shira Feniger, Zohar Cohen, Hadas Prawer (Noy Bengal, 58’), Gil Havatzelet, Ana Cheminova, Eden Avital, Roni Ohana (Roni Eli, 58’).
