While the team was preparing for tomorrow’s match, club staff and representatives visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp.
The visit began at "House 88", the former residence of Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss. Today, the residence houses an international research and educational center dedicated to combating antisemitism, hatred, and extremism - focusing on the crucial link between learning from the horrific events of the past and investing in education for the future.
The tour was guided by Jacek Purski, Director of the Auschwitz Research Center on Hatred, Extremism, and Radicalization. At the conclusion of the tour, Jacek received a token of appreciation from the club.
Following this, the delegation took a guided tour of the Auschwitz Visitors Center, walking between the blocks and gas chambers, and viewing the deeply moving exhibits.
Club CEO Guy Primor stated following the visit to "House 88": "You all know we are in Poland for football, but life always takes us to other places as well. I believe everyone here has a historical connection to this place in one way or another. You have built a remarkable bridge here between history and the future. If there is one thing we have learned over the years - and especially after October 7th - it is that we cannot settle for 'Never Forget'; we must ensure it never happens again. We are fortunate to be here and fortunate to receive this guided tour—this is far bigger than football."
