Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv lifted the first piece of silverware of the 2026/2027 season tonight (Thursday), after defeating Maccabi Tel Aviv 3-2 in an enthralling Tel Aviv Derby in the Toto Cup Final held at Bloomfield Stadium. The Reds, who won the Leumit League Toto Cup in 2024 and were stopped in the Premier League Toto Cup Final last season, did it in style and returned the trophy to the Red trophy cabinet for the first time since the 2001/2002 season.

Elyaniv Barda's side started the match in perfect fashion, displaying clear superiority from the opening whistle. In the 18th minute, high pressing yielded a well-deserved lead: Daniel Dappa dispossessed the opposition and fed Douglas Owusu, who laid off a brilliant pass to Roei Alkukin; the midfielder unleashed a sharp strike inside the near post to make it 1-0 to the Reds. Hapoel maintained undisputed control over the tempo until the interval and prevented the opponent from threatening the goal, heading into the dressing room with a deserved lead.

The momentum continued in the second half as the Reds kept dictating the pace. In the 78th minute, Dappa, one of the stars of the evening, broke into the box and was brought down, with the referee pointing to the spot without hesitation. Omri Altman stepped up to take the penalty, kept his cool, and dispatched a flawless strike into the net to double the advantage to 2-0.
Less than five minutes later (83'), the Red celebration continued: center-back Chico charged forward in a tremendous surging run towards the opposing goal and delivered a pinpoint cross to Dappa, who tapped in from close range into an exposed net to make it 3-0 to the Reds.

In stoppage time, the opponent scored twice, but the final whistle signaled the start of ecstatic Red celebrations on the pitch and in the stands. Hapoel wins the derby and proudly lifts the Toto Cup for the 2026/2027 season!
