The first league meeting between Hapoel Tel Aviv and Maccabi Netanya took place on October 23, 1943, in Matchday 4 of League A. Hapoel hosted the match at the Montefiore ground and fell behind in the 22nd minute, but an equalizer by Zvi Herbert Meitner in the 57th minute sealed a 1:1 draw.

Over the years, Hapoel have scored numerous goals against Netanya, including eight four-goal wins, one five-goal win, and one seven-goal haul. During the 1956/57 championship season, on March 16, 1957, Hapoel travelled to Netanya and claimed a 1:4 victory on their way to the title. The goals were scored by Asher Blot, twice including a penalty in the 7th and the 75th minutes, Michael Michaelov in the 84th minute, and Pinhas Yehudioff in the 85th minute.

In the 1999/2000 double-winning season, Hapoel recorded their only five-goal performance against Netanya in a match held at Ramat Gan Stadium, which ended in a 2:5 victory. The goals were scored by an own goal in the 5th minute, Ronen Harazi in the 27th and 53rd minutes, Salim Touama in the 40th minute, and Sebastian Simerotic in the 90th minute.

One of the most memorable encounters came on January 21, 2012, in a wild 3:7 match at Bloomfield Stadium, during which Netanya received three red cards. Hapoel took the lead through Omer Damari in the 15th minute. Netanya responded with two quick goals in the 20th and 21st minutes, before Shay Abutbul equalized in the 25th minute. Toto Tamuz restored Hapoel’s lead just before the break in the 33rd minute, added another from the penalty spot in the 65th minute, Salim Touama made it six in the 75th minute, and Tamuz completed his hat-trick with the final goal in the 83rd minute.
