Memories from Last Season
Just last season, the two arch-rivals faced each other no less than five times across all competitions (twice in the regular season, twice in the Championship Playoff, and once in the Toto Cup final).
In the regular season, each team defended its home turf. The most memorable match took place at Bloomfield Stadium: Hapoel found themselves trailing 2-1 deep into the 90th minute, but dramatic stoppage-time action turned the game on its head. A sensational header by Andrian Kraev secured a dramatic equalizer, and in the 98th minute, Omri Altman sent a brilliant free-kick into the back of the net, sealing a thrilling 2-3 victory and gifting the Reds a prestigious, unforgettable win.

In the Championship Playoff, Hapoel was defeated at Bloomfield and ended the final matchday of the season with a 1-1 draw at Teddy Stadium. In the Toto Cup, Hapoel lost 2-1 in the final match held at Sammy Ofer Stadium.

Hapoel and Beitar first met in the Toto Cup on November 30, 1993, in the fifth round of the group stage. Hosting the Jerusalem side at Bloomfield Stadium, Hapoel fell behind in the 27th minute but managed to equalize through a Yehuda Amar goal in the 52nd minute, a result that held until the final whistle, 1-1.
Over the years, Hapoel has enjoyed quite a few sweet moments against Beitar in this competition, scoring four goals on two occasions. The first occurred on October 4, 1997, also in the group stage, when the Reds celebrated a massive 0-4 victory thanks to goals from Ofer Shitrit (23' pen, 61'), Pini Balili (31'), and Damjan Gajser (38').

Another unforgettable victory was recorded on August 7, 2005, when Hapoel thrashed Beitar 1-4 at Bloomfield Stadium. Baruch Dego (28'), Assi Domb (51'), John Paintsil (53'), and Elyaniv Barda (62') were the goalscorers.

The last meeting between the two sides in the Toto Cup was in last season's final. They faced off last October at Sammy Ofer Stadium, which Hapoel reached after defeating Hapoel Be'er Sheva 0-2 in the semi-finals. The final was slightly controlled by our rivals, and Hapoel was defeated 2-1, with Stav Torial scoring a consolation goal in second-half stoppage time.
